Le attivit\u00e0 umane hanno profondamente influenzato la composizione della troposfera, la parte inferiore dell&#8217;atmosfera che \u00e8 fondamentale per la vita del pianeta. La troposfera pu\u00f2 essere vista come una camera di reazione altamente complessa in cui vengono elaborati composti in traccia, emessi da fonti naturali e antropiche, e vengono prodotte nuove specie. Le nebbie e le nuvole svolgono un ruolo significativo nella chimica dell&#8217;atmosfera, perch\u00e9 si sospetta che siano il collegamento cruciale tra l&#8217;emissione di inquinanti nell&#8217;atmosfera e la successiva deposizione sulla superficie durante le precipitazioni. Qui viene descritto un esperimento sul campo, finalizzato alla delucidazione dei processi chimici fisici che avvengono nella nebbia. L&#8217;esperimento \u00e8 stato condotto nell&#8217;ambito del progetto europeo EUROTRAC, sottoprogetto GCE (Ground-based Cloud Experiment). Nel novembre 1989, diversi gruppi di ricerca provenienti da cinque paesi europei si sono riuniti per l&#8217;intero mese presso la stazione di campo di San Pietro Capofiume, nella Pianura Padana. Questo esperimento \u00e8 probabilmente il pi\u00f9 completo mai condotto nel campo della chimica della nebbia. L&#8217;impianto sperimentale e le procedure sperimentali sono descritti nel film e l&#8217;importanza di questa collaborazione internazionale \u00e8 particolarmente sottolineata. Human activities have profoundly affected the composition of the troposphere, the lower part of the atmosphere which is critical to the life of the planet. The troposphere can be seen as a highly complex reaction chamber in which trace compounds, emitted by anthropogenic and natural sources are processed and new species are produced. Fogs and clouds play a significant role in atmosphere chemistry, because are suspected of being the crucial link between emission of pollutants into the atmosphere and subsequent deposition to the surface in precipitation. A field experiment is described here, aimed at the elucidation of physics chemical processes occuring in fog. The experiment was carried out within the frame of the European project EUROTRAC, subproject GCE (Ground-based Cloud Experiment). In November 1989, several research teams from five European countries gathered for the full month at the field station of San Pietro Capofiume, in the Po Valley. This experiment is probably the most complete ever conducted in the field of fog chemistry. The experimental set-up and the experimental procedures are described in the film and the importance of this international collaboration is especially underlined. In fact, the study of physics chemical processes in the real environment requires expertise from a wide range of disciplines and a set of instrumentation usually not available to a single research
